Transaction Count, Active Addresses and Fees Paid (in USD): per UTC day for Base from growthepie, licensed CC BY 4.0 (full history from June 15, 2023 for subscribers); latest complete day Oct 7, 2026, 8.28M transactions. Block time and transactions per second: the time between the first and last of the latest 30 blocks from a public Base RPC (30 blocks over 58 seconds); base fee: the latest of those blocks, in gwei of ETH. Latest block 52,356,942. USDC issued: totalSupply() of Circle's USDC contract on Base, every 30 minutes (recorded daily from Oct 1, 2026). Decentralized finance figures are not shown yet.
Base has no token of its own. Transaction fees on Base are paid in ETH, and ETH moved from Ethereum to Base through Base's canonical bridge is held by the bridge's OptimismPortal contract on Ethereum: that ETH, and the USDC issued on Base, are shown at a Glance. The ETH market is shown in the ETH Market section.

Base is an Ethereum layer 2 network built on the OP Stack and part of the Superchain of OP Stack networks. Its blocks are produced on Base and its transaction data is posted to Ethereum. ETH and tokens move between Ethereum and Base through Base's bridge contracts on Ethereum, and Base publishes the software to run a Base node as base/node on GitHub.

genfinity.ioFrequently Asked Questions
What does this page cover?
Public data about Base: daily transactions, active addresses and fees, block time and throughput, the base fee, ETH locked in Base's bridge on Ethereum, USDC issued on Base, node software releases, events, and the ecosystem. The market section shows ETH, the gas token on Base.
What is Base?
Base is an Ethereum layer 2 network built on the OP Stack, the open-source software developed by the Optimism Collective, and incubated by Coinbase. It is part of the Superchain of OP Stack networks. Transactions on Base are paid for in ETH.
Does Base have a token?
No. Base has no token of its own; gas on Base is paid in ETH. That is why the market figures on this page are for ETH and are always labelled as ETH, and why the page shows ETH locked in Base's bridge and USDC issued on Base instead of a token supply.
What is ETH locked in the bridge?
The ETH balance of Base's OptimismPortal contract on Ethereum mainnet, read directly from an Ethereum node. ETH deposited to Base through its canonical bridge is held by this contract until it is withdrawn back to Ethereum. ETH that reaches Base through other bridges is not included.
How often is the data updated?
Block time, throughput and base fee refresh every minute while the page is open. ETH locked in the bridge and USDC issued refresh every 30 minutes; node releases every six hours. Daily statistics are added once each UTC day has closed. All dates and times are in UTC.
Where does the data come from?
From public Base nodes (blocks, block time, throughput, base fee and Circle's USDC contract), public Ethereum nodes (the OptimismPortal contract), growthepie (daily Transaction Count, Active Addresses and fees paid, CC BY 4.0) and GitHub (base/node releases). ETH market figures come from the same sources as the Ethereum page. The notes under each section name the sources and define each figure.
What is free, and what is for subscribers?
Live figures, price charts and the last quarter (92 days) of chart history are free on every network page. Reports, the report archive, downloads and full chart history are for subscribers. Subscriptions open once our licensed data sources are in place; plans are on the pricing page.
How do I subscribe or unsubscribe?
Report subscriptions open soon, once our licensed data sources are in place; plans are on the pricing page. Existing subscribers can unsubscribe or change their choices from the link in any Genfinity email.

- Not Investment Advice
- The information on this page is provided for general information only. It is not investment, legal, tax or accounting advice, and it is not an offer or solicitation to buy or sell any asset. Past performance is not indicative of future results. The value of digital assets can change quickly.
- Data Sources & Limitations
- Figures come from third-party and on-chain sources and are provided without warranty of accuracy or completeness. Sources can be delayed, interrupted or revised; when a source is unavailable, the last available value is shown. Base has no token of its own; its gas is paid in ETH, so the market figures on this page are for ETH, read from the same sources as the Ethereum page. Network figures are read from public Base and Ethereum nodes (ETH locked in the bridge is the ETH balance of Base's OptimismPortal contract on Ethereum); daily transaction, address and fee history is from growthepie under CC BY 4.0. Figures reflect the sources at the time they were read and may be revised. Figures are unaudited. All times are UTC.
- Forward-Looking Statements
- Some content, such as scheduled upgrades, governance votes, events and third-party announcements, refers to future events. It reflects information available at the time of publication and may change; actual outcomes may differ. Genfinity makes no projections of its own, and any third-party forecast is attributed to its source.
