Transaction Count, Active Addresses and fees paid: per UTC day for Ethereum mainnet from growthepie, licensed CC BY 4.0 (full history from January 2020 for subscribers); latest complete day Oct 7, 2026, 1.96M transactions. Block time, transactions per second and base fee: the latest 25 blocks from a public Ethereum RPC. USDT and USDC issued: each token's total supply read from its contract on Ethereum (Tether and Circle).
Ether (ETH) has no fixed maximum supply. Since the Merge in September 2022, new ETH is issued to validators that secure the network by staking, and every transaction burns its base fee, so the supply grows or shrinks with network use.

Effective balance staked
Across 834,964 active validators
ETH staked: the sum of the balances of every active validator on the beacon chain; effective balance is the stake the protocol counts for rewards and voting (since the Pectra upgrade a validator can hold up to 2,048 ETH). Updated every six hours.
Ethereum is secured by validators that stake ETH. Protocol upgrades are proposed as Ethereum Improvement Proposals, agreed in public All Core Developers calls, and delivered by independent teams that build the execution and consensus clients validators run.

genfinity.ioFrequently Asked Questions
What does this page cover?
Public data about Ethereum: the ETH market price, supply, issuance and burn, staking and validators, network activity and fees, client releases and network upgrades, stablecoins, events, and the ecosystem.
What is Ethereum?
Ethereum is a public blockchain that runs smart contracts: programs that anyone can deploy and use without permission. Its native currency, ether (ETH), pays transaction fees and is staked by validators to secure the network. Ethereum launched in July 2015 and is developed in the open by independent client teams, researchers and the Ethereum Foundation.
How is new ETH issued, and is ETH burned?
ETH has no fixed maximum supply. Since the Merge in September 2022, Ethereum runs on proof of stake, and new ETH is issued only as rewards to validators; the rate depends on how much ETH is staked. Since the London upgrade in August 2021 (EIP-1559), the base fee of every transaction is burned, not paid to anyone. The supply grows or shrinks each day by issuance minus burn, so it falls when network use is high enough.
How does staking work?
Validators lock ETH on the beacon chain to propose and attest to blocks, and earn rewards for doing so; a validator that goes offline loses a small amount, and one that breaks the protocol rules is penalized (slashed). A validator needs at least 32 ETH, and since the Pectra upgrade one validator can count up to 2,048 ETH. ETH staked on this page is the sum of the balances of every active validator.
How often is the data updated?
Throughput refreshes every minute while the page is open. Validator and staking figures refresh every six hours; other figures from every hour to every six hours. Daily statistics are added once each UTC day has closed. All dates and times are in UTC.
Where does the data come from?
From public sources: a public Ethereum RPC (block time, transactions per second and base fee from the latest blocks), the beacon chain (validators and ETH staked), growthepie (daily transactions, active addresses and fees, licensed CC BY 4.0), the USDT and USDC token contracts on Ethereum (stablecoins issued), and GitHub (the latest release of each client). The notes under each section name the sources and define each figure.
How are network upgrades shown?
Upgrades are listed once the Ethereum Foundation publishes an activation date on its blog. Testnet dates come first; a mainnet date is added only when it is announced, and a date that could still change is marked as provisional.
What is free, and what is for subscribers?
Live figures, price charts and the last quarter (92 days) of chart history are free on every network page. Reports, the report archive, downloads and full chart history are for subscribers. Subscriptions open once our licensed data sources are in place; plans are on the pricing page.
How do I subscribe or unsubscribe?
Report subscriptions open soon, once our licensed data sources are in place; plans are on the pricing page. Existing subscribers can unsubscribe or change their choices from the link in any Genfinity email.
