Transaction Count, Active Addresses and Fees Paid (in USD): per UTC day for Celo from growthepie, licensed CC BY 4.0 (full history from April 22, 2020 for subscribers); latest complete day Oct 7, 2026, 923.11K transactions. Block time and transactions per second: the time between the first and last of the latest 30 blocks from Forno, the public Celo RPC run by cLabs (30 blocks over 29 seconds); base fee: the latest of those blocks, in gwei of CELO. Stablecoins issued: totalSupply() of the USDT (Tether), USDC (Circle) and USDm (Mento) token contracts on Celo, every 30 minutes. Decentralized finance figures are not shown yet.
CELO is the native token of Celo. It pays transaction fees and is locked to vote for validators and on Celo's on-chain governance proposals. CELO not yet in circulation is held by the CeloUnreleasedTreasury contract, from which it is released over time.

CELO total supply: totalSupply() of the CELO token contract. CELO locked: getTotalLockedGold() of the LockedGold contract, the CELO locked by accounts for voting and staking. CELO in the unreleased treasury: the CELO balance of the CeloUnreleasedTreasury contract. All read from Forno, the public Celo RPC run by cLabs, every 30 minutes, and recorded daily from Oct 1, 2026.
Celo became an Ethereum layer 2 network built on the OP Stack in March 2025. Its blocks are now produced by a sequencer and the network settles to Ethereum, so the validators elected by CELO holders no longer produce blocks. Holders lock CELO to vote for validator groups and on governance proposals, and protocol changes are approved on chain through Celo's Governance contract. Celo's execution client is published as celo-org/op-geth on GitHub.

Elected validators: getElectedAccounts() of the EpochManager contract; since the move to layer 2, elected validators no longer produce blocks. Governance proposals: proposalCount() of the Governance contract, every proposal submitted. Both from Forno, the public Celo RPC run by cLabs, every 30 minutes. Governance proposals (CGPs): the newest proposal documents in Celo's governance repository (celo-org/governance) (opens in a new tab), each linked to its document, with the creation date, status and on-chain proposal number its document states, every six hours. Releases: the latest published releases of celo-org/op-geth on GitHub, every six hours, each dated by GitHub's published date and linked to its release notes.

genfinity.ioFrequently Asked Questions
What does this page cover?
Public data about Celo: daily transactions, active addresses and fees, block time and throughput, the base fee, CELO supply, CELO locked, the unreleased treasury, elected validators, governance proposals, node software releases, stablecoins, events, and the ecosystem.
What is Celo?
Celo is a public blockchain compatible with Ethereum that became an Ethereum layer 2 network built on the OP Stack in March 2025. Its native token, CELO, pays transaction fees and is locked to vote for validators and on governance proposals.
What is CELO locked?
The CELO locked in Celo's LockedGold contract, read directly from a Celo node. Holders lock CELO to vote for validator groups and on governance proposals.
Do Celo validators still produce blocks?
No. Since Celo became a layer 2 network, its blocks are produced by a sequencer. CELO holders still elect validators, and the page shows the number elected, but the elected validators no longer produce blocks.
How often is the data updated?
Block time, throughput and base fee refresh every two minutes while the page is open. Supply, CELO locked, validators, governance proposals and stablecoins refresh every 30 minutes; client releases every six hours. Daily statistics are added once each UTC day has closed. All dates and times are in UTC.
Where does the data come from?
From Forno, the public Celo RPC (blocks, block time, throughput, base fee, and the CELO, LockedGold, EpochManager, Governance, unreleased treasury and stablecoin contracts), growthepie (daily Transaction Count, Active Addresses and fees paid, CC BY 4.0) and GitHub (op-geth releases). The notes under each section name the sources and define each figure.
What is free, and what is for subscribers?
Live figures, price charts and the last quarter (92 days) of chart history are free on every network page. Reports, the report archive, downloads and full chart history are for subscribers. Subscriptions open once our licensed data sources are in place; plans are on the pricing page.
How do I subscribe or unsubscribe?
Report subscriptions open soon, once our licensed data sources are in place; plans are on the pricing page. Existing subscribers can unsubscribe or change their choices from the link in any Genfinity email.
